The 3rd Eastbourne Boy’s Brigade held its 61st annual display and awards evening at Victoria Baptist Church.
Charlie Simmons, captain of the 3rd Burgess Hill Boys’ Brigade Company, was guest inspecting officer and was impressed with the youngsters’ smartness and presentation.
Local teacher Jeremy Taylor was chairman for the evening and spoke about the Boys’ Brigade core disciplines and mentioned high achievers who had been in the brigade – notably Sir Alex Ferguson.
Andy Donoghue, founder of the group, was installed as company president by current commanding officer Adrian Attwater.
The evening included plenty of displays and sketches demonstrating the various activities the boys do.
Barney Johnson, Tommy-Lee Smart and Nathaniel Wheelwright earned their silver Duke of Edinburgh awards.
Joseph Greenan was promoted to warrant officer, while Barney Johnson, Daniel Bennett and Tommy-Lee smart became Lance Corporals.
Junior Cup was awarded to Sui, Caleb Johnson won Sportsman Shield, Daniel Bennett received the cup for Esprit de Corps and the Officers’ Cup was presented to Luke Greenan.
