MEMBERS of Hampden Park Bowls Club have celebrated 100 years of the club.
All the members attended the celebration event and enjoyed live music a buffet lunch and a visit from the Mayor of Eastbourne Mike Thompson and Eastbourne MP Stephen Lloyd.
Cllr Thompson officially unveiled the commemorative plaque at the event which marked the centenary of the bowls club.
He and Stephen Lloyd then formed part of two teams and played the first couple of bowls against each other.
Ken Limage, a member of the Hampden Park Bowls Club committee who helped organise the event, said, “I felt is went very well.
“It was a lovely day and everyone involved enjoyed it.
“The weather even held off until the end of the game.
“It went as smooth as silk.”
The club opened it doors in Hampden Park in 1912. It now has around 90 members and they were all delighted to attend the celebration to mark the 100 years of the club.
