Bonfire society looks for charities to help

Organisers of the Eastbourne Bonfire Society celebrations are on the lookout for two local charities to work with and support over the coming year.

Charities have up until Monday November 10 to apply to become one of the chosen charities.

David Oliver from the Eastbourne Bonfire Society said, “Every year our members vote for two local charities to work with and support over the next 12 months.

“In addition to the bucket collection at the procession in October we hold various other events throughout the year to raise funds and entertain the people of Eastbourne and our charities become an important part of these events.

“We invite local charities wishing to be considered to apply in writing with full details.

“Our members will vote for the two successful charities at our next meeting on Monday November 10 November so applications should be submitted as soon as possible.”

At the November 10 meeting cheques will be presented to the society’s chosen charities for the last 12 months, Charlie’s YMCA and the Eastbourne Area Epilepsy Group.

David said, “A warm welcome awaits anyone wishing to join the society, just come along to the meeting.”

Charities wishing to apply should write to the secretary, Eastbourne Bonfire Society, The Crown & Anchor, 15-16 Marine Parade, Eastbourne BN21 3DX. Visit
