The main event in Eastbourne’s bonfire season celebrations take place tomorrow night (Saturday October 5) along the seafront with a procession, bonfire and fireworks.
The procession in Eastbourne is in week five of the Bonfire season, with Uckfield, Crowborough, Mayfield and Burgess Hill prior. The evening will welcome more than 17 other bonfire societies, a number of bands, drummers, Morris dancers and much more.
Starting at the Crown and Anchor Pub on Marine Parade at 7.30pm, the procession will walk east to Fisherman’s Green before reversing and heading towards the Wish Tower slopes to arrive around 8.30pm where the bonfire will be lit on the beaches opposite and the fireworks display will be fired shortly after.
Spectators are invited to watch the procession and join in the fun from the closed road or the middle promenade. The lower promenade will be closed. Visitors can also watch from the Wish Tower slopes and the top end of Howard Square where refreshments will be available.
During the event collectors will be asking for support from the public to raise funds for this year’s chosen charities; the Polegate Children with Cancer Fund and the Matthew 25 Mission.
Money raised from the sale of programmes fund the display and can be purchased from Beanzz on Grove Road or on the night.
