Body recovered from Beachy Head

The body of a missing man has been recovered from Beachy Head.

The man, who was reported missing from his home in Suffolk, was recovered on Sunday (March 6).

The alarm was raised when the man’s Nissan car was spotted nearby at around 12.30am on Sunday.

Officers confirmed the vehicle was registered to a 39-year-old man from Sudbury who had been reported missing on Saturday morning.

Police and HM Coastguard helicopters were used in the search for the man and at 10.30am a body was spotted halfway down the cliffs to the east of Beachy Head.

It was recovered by a coastguard helicopter at around 12.45pm and flown to Eastbourne DGH.

The coroner’s office has been informed.
