The body of a man recovered from the foot of cliffs at Beachy Head on Saturday morning (November 2) has been identified ad Robert Bower from Yorkshire.
A search of the area was carried out after the 25-year-old’s car was found in the main car park at the top of Beachy Head at around 5pm on the Friday.
Sussex Police had been alerted by colleagues in South Yorkshire that he was thought to be heading for Sussex and a search was launched after the discovery of the car.
An HM Coastguard helicopter checked the area that evening, but the search was stood down at about 11.30pm.
Shortly after 10am on Saturday, coastguards found the man’s body at the bottom of the cliffs and the Eastbourne inshore lifeboat was called in to recover it.
Mr Bower lived in Old Mill Road, Conisbrough, Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
Police are not treating his death as suspicious and the case has been passed to the coroner’s officer.
