Easter Egg Run organiser Andy Parmenter, also known as ‘Hobbit’, is hosting the event with his new club, Sussex Bikers Group.

Andy said: “The journey is roughly 25 miles along some of the best biking roads in Sussex.

“Once we reach Chestnut Tree House, we will be greeted by the children and deliver our Easter eggs, activity toys or even a small donation, while the children look at the bikes and mingle with the riders.”

Bikers will meet at Shoreham Airport at 10.30am for an 11am ride out to Poling, near Arundel, and gather for a reception after the hand-over at the hospice.

The fourth Chestnut Tree House Easter Egg Run will be marshalled by SERV (Service by Emergency Rider Volunteers) Sussex.

Russ Green, from SERV Sussex, said: “We are the blood bike charity here in Sussex, covering hospitals seven days a week, 365 days a year, out of hours and for free.

“This year, we have been asked by Sussex Bikers Group to assist them with this rather large Easter Egg run in aid of the children’s hospice.

“We expect no less than 200 bikers to meet at Shoreham Airport on Sunday and we will assist as outriders for the 25-mile journey, keeping the group together and safe along the route.

“The route will pass through Arundel and I have asked for volunteer photographers to take some shots along the way.”

The SERV Sussex bikers will be making their own Easter egg run on Sunday afternoon. Danny Horn has organised the donation to Worthing Hospital.

Mr Horn said: “This has come with a £100 donation from Ashley Alinia at RightTrack Group in Horsham, £100 from Giovanna Chirico and a few smaller donations from SERV members. Other donations have come from members of the public and via Facebook.

“We will be visiting Worthing Child Development Centre and Worthing CAMHS to donate eggs for every child visiting over the Easter week.”

A number of Easter eggs are being donated by new SERV biker Chris Bason and his wife, Jane, who own The Little Sweet Shop in High Street, Steyning. These will be collected tomorrow.
