Biggest medieval festival in the UK is back at Herstmonceux Castle this weekend

England's Medieval Festival at Herstmonceux Castle takes place this bank holiday weekend and is the biggest event of its kind in the UK.

The festival runs from August 24 to 27 and visitors can attend for a day on camp for the whole weekend.

Organisers promise visitors will be surrounded by the sights, smells and excitement of medieval times.

Realistic historical battles, jousting, performers, horses, archery, music, traditional crafts, eating, drinking, shopping and day-to-day life of the past.

Herstmonceux Castle is a fairy tale setting for a totally different family weekend.

Youngsters will enjoy the Kids’ Kingdom, where wizards, jesters, knights, dragons and princesses await with traditional games and fascinating tales.

Hundreds of traditional craftsmen, traders and workshops will set up for the weekend.
