CHARLIE’S Youth Club has been given a £5,000 cash boost.

The money has come from the Youth Bank and will enable a freestyle gymnastics project to continue for another year.

The project, supported by Eastbourne Homes and the Crime Reduction Partnership, is led by Eastbourne and Wealden YMCA and is part of the youth activities programme.

Youngsters Dennis Gomerall and Lewis Uphill initially applied to the Youth Bank for £500 so they could practise their gymnastics in a safe environment with specialised coaches. But the project grew with more than 40 people wanting to join and Dennis and Lewis headed up a further application for £5,000, which was approved.

Eastbourne and Wealden YMCA will be starting a number of activities and projects in the near future that are directly related to what young people in Eastbourne want and is in the process of carrying out consultations with young people across the town.
