Plans are in the pipeline for a Best of Eastbourne Festival next year showcasing the town’s businesses and products.
It is set to take place on Saturday August 9 and is being staged in front of Eastbourne Rugby Club in Hampden Park from 11am onwards.
It is being organised in co-operation with Eastbourne Borough Council by You Raise Me Up, the Willingdon-based charity which provides practical, emotional and financial support to families who lose children between the age of 16 and 25.
“This is set to be one of Eastbourne’s biggest annual events offering individual local businesses the chance to showcase their products and is a superb way of capturing a wide audience from around the county,” said the charity’s Jane Brooks, who set up You Raise Me Up with her husband Fraser after their daughter Megan died suddenly two years ago.
“It will include a staged area for local bands, theatre groups, a beer tent, food court with live demonstrations, car showrooms, bouncy castles and pitches for all local businesses.
“The pitches are for any business or organisation which wants to show off what it has to offer. It could be a restaurant, bar, shop, craft organisation, sports organisation, car dealership – this is all about showing off Eastbourne’s finest.”
Admission will be free to those attending and organisers are hoping businesses and organisations wanting to show off their wares will start booking pitches soon.
The proceeds from pitch sales will go to You Raise Me Up, which has helped local families cope with the loss of their young adults.
