A huge amount of hard work and commitment from the students and staff of Seaford Head School, along with tremendous support from families and the wider community, has led to the school’s best ever GCSE results.

A total of 71 per cent of students have achieved 5A*-C including English and maths.

This represents an improvement of nine per cent on the results of 2013.

A spokesperson for the school said: “These outstanding results are even more remarkable considering the changes to GCSEs nationally.

“The school is especially delighted with the performance of many individual subjects and students.”

At GCSE 100 per cent of students achieved an A*-C grade in French, biology and chemistry with more than 90 per cent achieving an A*-C grade in physics, religious studies and PE.

Four out of five of all students gained a C grade or above in GCSE English language and maths.

The number of top grades awarded was especially pleasing with 215 A* grades and 449 A grades in total across subjects, which means 27 per cent of all grades awarded were A* or A.

Many individual students did exceptionally well with 38 students achieving eight A*-A grades.

Two students from the school also achieved top student awards from Plumpton College for their vocational qualifications; Luke Harman for Motor Vehicle Studies and Nick Jenner for Agriculture.

The school spokesperson added: “The staff and governors are absolutely delighted with these results and would like to congratulate all Seaford Head students on their achievements this year.

“In the year that Seaford Head School is launching its Sixth Form what a great baseline to start from and we expect fantastic results in two year’s time.”
