Police have released CCTV images of two men they want to speak to after two bank machines in Eastbourne were damaged in an attempt to fit them with a skimming machine.

Bank staff discovered a hole in one of the card readers outside Barclays Bank in Terminus Road when they arrived for work on June 12. The card slot on the other machine was also damaged.

Two men were caught on CCTV acting suspiciously around the bank machines during the time it is believed they were damaged.

PC Lauren Barnes said, “We want to speak to both these men who were caught on CCTV in related to this incident. The damaged happened between 10pm and 11pm on Tuesday 11 June.

“A similar incident occurred in late March when the same two machines were targeted. The damage was caused to try to place skimming devices in the machines, however the bank has a system which means once the machine is tampered with it shuts down until the bank re-set it.

“If anyone recognises these men or has any information regarding this incident I would urge them to contact police as soon as possible on 101, quoting serial number 0300 of 12/06. Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
