Eastbourne’s oldest chip shop was presented with an award this week after being named proud winners of the Herald’s 2015 Chip Shop of the Year competition.
Bamboo Garden, in Seaside Road, is owned by the Lam family and is Eastbourne’s oldest chip shop. It opened back in 1938 and was taken over by the Lams 32 years ago.
The family pride themselves in providing the local community with the finest traditional fish and chips, cooked to best quality by years of frying experience.
Over the 32 years they have built up a good reputation with the locals around the area.
On receiving their award Mr Lam said, “ We are so happy and proud to win this title and would like to thank all our customers for their loyalty and for voting for us to be Eastbourne’s finest chip shop this year.”
Son Jason Lam was equally as grateful to all Bamboo Garden customers and added, “It is great to be recognised for our hard work and friendly service, plus for those that haven’t yet tried our fish and chips please come along and try us, you wont be disappointed, we offer a small seating area or take away services at reasonable prices.”
