A HAILSHAM man has been honoured for donating blood on an impressive 75 occasions.
Dedicated blood donor Jonathan Lea, from Bodle Street Green, was among 62 donors honoured by NHS Blood and Transplant at an awards event held last month at The Grand Hotel in Brighton.
The ceremony honoured long-serving blood donors who had donated blood on at least 75 occasions, with 12 of the lifesavers commended for reaching the 100 donation milestone. Between them, the donors have given almost 5000 units of blood, the equivalent of 4,100 pints.
Mr Lea received a crystal plate in recognition of his efforts.
Anyone wanting to donate for the first time should be aged between 17-65, weighing at least 50kg (seven stone 12lbs) and in general good health. If you’ve donated before, you can start again up to your 70th birthday and there is no upper age limit for donors who have donated in the last two years.
