Young budding artists in Polegate are being encouraged to take part in a new competition organised by the local mayor.
The new mayor Cllr David Watts has launched a junior art competition in time for the summer holidays and is urging local families to get involved.
The competition is free to enter and for children under the age of 16.
The competition opens on August 1 and closes on August 31.
The winners will receive a cash prize of £50 for the first place, £30 for second place and £25.
There will a number of third place prizes for various age groups ranging from £10 to £25.
The winning pictures will be on display in the Town Council Chambers initially and will move to other locations in the town.
Cllr Watts said, “This new art competition is to encourage young budding artists in the town and get the young involved in the community.
“I see this as part of taking Polegate forward as the young are the future.
“Art is always a good way of expression and I hope that this competition now launched will continue for many years to come.”
