Armed police raided an Eastbourne flat in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, May 12) after reports of a man making threats with a handgun.

Police say they were called to flats in Trinity Trees shortly after 12.30am, after a man was reported to have threatened a neighbour with a handgun in what appeared to be an argument over noise.

Armed officers attended the scene and a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

The man is currently in police custody.

Officers searched the property but found no weapon inside.
