Appeal after Eastbourne road rage incident

Amanda Starling says she has been left with a repair bill running in to hundreds of pounds after her car was hit by a silver Vauxhall Astra driving without lights.

Amanda said it happened shortly before 7pm in Lottbridge Drove.

She said, “I was cut up on the Tesco’s roundabout by a lone male driver without his lights on. The start of the registration plate was BL.

“I sounded my horn as he was getting very close. As we pulled on to the dual carriageway in Lotbridge Drove with Tesco’s on the left hand side, he sounded his horn and deliberately pulled in to my blue Ford Fiesta Zetec hitting my drivers door, the wing, wing mirror and front bumper causing damage.

“I followed him as far as I could, but he was too far ahead of me for me to see his number plate clearly. I lost track of him at the Hydneye roundabout as he was driving very quickly and weaving in and out of traffic.”

Amanda has contacted the police and posted an appeal on Facebook for people to keep a look out for a silver Astra with damage to the passenger side of the car.

“It is likely to be marked with blue paint from my car. Please either let me know of any sightings or report the car number plate and where it was seen to the police.”

A spokesperson at Sussex Police said today (Monday), “Witnesses are being sought to an incident in Eastbourne on Sunday (February 28) when a car was damaged in an apparent road rage incident.

“A blue Ford Fiesta was ‘cut up’ by another car in Lottbridge Drove shortly before 7pm, colliding with the car as it did so, resulting in damage to the offside door, panels, bumper and mirror.

“The offending vehicle, which sped off from the scene, was a bright silver Vauxhall Astra with the partial registration number ‘BL’. The car was being driven by a man in his 20s with short brown hair.

“Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, saw the car in the area around that time or who may have seen it since and noted damage to it. It may have been taken to a local garage for repair.
