EASTBOURNE residents are being invited to have their say on the future of fire services.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service could potentially be combined to create a new Sussex Fire Authority, responsible for East Sussex, West Sussex and the city of Brighton & Hove.

The 12-week public consultation period is open until October 6.

A spokesperson said, “During this process, it is essential that local people are given the opportunity to discuss the issues.

“It is equally important that your fire and rescue service has a real understanding of how you feel about the proposed merger.”

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service will be holding a public meeting on September 1 at Eastbourne Town Hall, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet the chief fire officer and discuss this important local decision.

Doors open 7pm to start at 7.15pm. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Liz Foster on 01323 462389 or email to
