Air ambulances called to serious A27 collision

Emergency services including two air ambulances were called to a serious collision on the A27.

According to Sussex Police, both drivers suffered serious injuries after the reportedly head-on collision near the A22 junction at the Pevensey bypass at around 3.20pm today (Monday).

The road is closed westbound from the roundabout at Golden Jubilee Way and, police say, is likely to remain shut for the next three hours.

A spokesperson from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said, “Firefighters are currently assisting at the scene of the incident involving three vehicles in which two people are reported to be trapped.

“Sussex Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) are also in attendance.”
