A person has suffered potentially serious head injuries after being hit by a part of a falling tree, according to the ambulance service.

The incident happened near the roundabout by the railway station and central library in Station Parade at about 11am.

An air ambulance landed nearby at the Saffrons sports club.

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said the patient was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by road with “potentially serious” head injuries.
