The Towner art gallery is holding a Behind the Scenes day on September 26 (11am-3pm).
The event gives visitors the chance to look behind closed doors and find out what goes on back stage at the award-winning contemporary art museum.
The Towner is offering a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at the gallery, discover more about the Towner’s collection, which includes works by Picasso, Goya, Piper, Ravilious, Bomberg and Bawden, and learn about the work of the Towner’s Collection curator Sara Cooper and conservator Corinne Farmer.
You will find out how an exhibition is planned and curated and which works created problems in terms of conservation and storage.
There will also be an opportunity to view examples of works before and after conservation treatment, learn about the practices and tools of the trade and take part in some supervised practical treatments.
Entrance with tea, coffee, lunch and conservation demonstration included, is £35 or £30 with concessions. For the Towner, Bluemonkeynet and NADFAS members tickets are £25.
