IT WAS a bumper weekend to remember in Eastbourne as the town celebrated the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival.
Street parties were held across the town over the four-day holiday and on Saturday night thousands lined the seafront to watch the return of the carnival for the first time in 15 years.
In addition, trees were planted, open days and festivals held and beacons lit to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Throughout the weekend events were held on the Western Lawns and big screens were broadcasting events live from Buckingham Palace.
Also, on Sunday, 2,000 women took part in the annual Race for Life at Eastbourne Sports Park and raised thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.
A seafront party with live performances, barn dance, competitions, seafront classic vehicle cavalcade and static display was held on Monday climaxing in a big screen on the Western Lawns showing BBC Concert from Buckingham Palace followed by the Beacon lighting by Eastbourne Bonfire Society and fireworks display.
