Ilex House was the former Vicarage to St Johns Church in St Johns Road and was thoughtfully designed to be in keeping with the Church, with attractive knapped flint elevations.

Andrew Leaper said, We sold the property at the end of 2012 to the previous owner when the house had been somewhat neglected.

“They completed a comprehensive restoration programme with the intention of taking up occupation, but due to a change in their circumstances they never moved in.

“We were delighted to be instructed to put the house back on the market in the autumn of last year and after careful consideration agreed upon an asking price of £1.25 million.

“As expected, the house generated considerable interest and we conducted over 50 viewings within the first six weeks of marketing.

“Applicants came from far and wide with a number from London and the suburbs and we even had one applicant who flew in from America specifically to view the house.

“A number of offers were received and the vendors decided to sell the house to a local businessman and his family who were cash buyers and able to conclude the transaction swiftly.

“The family moved in last month and we wish them every happiness in their new home.

“We have a number of disappointed buyers now registered with us looking for homes of a similar quality and we would be delighted to hear from anyone considering selling such a property as we may well have a buyer already registered with us.

“All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence.”
