THE WINTER Garden was the venue for the Lions South-East District Convention on the weekend of February 11-13.
On the Friday, Eastbourne Lions Club, in the presence of the mayor of Eastbourne Carolyn Heaps, hosted a Roaring 20s Evening in the Gold Room.
Delegates from Kent, Surrey and Sussex enjoyed a two-course meal and then danced the night away to an eight-piece jazz band.
Saturday saw the Convention Plenary Sessions in the Floral Hall, which was opened by the mayor.
The delegates discussed Lions’ business and welcomed various speakers including Nigel Whiteley, from St Dunstans, and Gudrun Bjort Yngvadottir, one of the international guests.
The day ended with a three-course banquet and ball. The delegates and guest danced until midnight to the sounds of the Johnny Spice Orchestra.
Eastbourne Lions, along with Lions from Hailsham, Uckfield, Bexhill, Battle, Hastings and Rye, were thanked for organising a successful convention.
