Homefield County Primary School was previously Sussex Road school, opened in 1902 and renamed Homefield in 1952.

The school closed in 1960 and the children were transferred to Lyndhurst, Downsbrook and Whytemead schools.

Interestingly, in October 2014, we published a picture of Homefield pupils in 1953, sent in by John Feest.

He had been able to name all but four of the pupils in that photograph.
