Pevensey Bay man died of asbestos

An 81-year-old Pevensey Bay man’s death was due to industrial disease, an inquest has heard.

Victor Hills died at his home in Castle Drive on July 29 2020.

He had been diagnosed with mesothelioma, which is caused by working with asbestos.

Mr Hills’ family said they believed he had come into contact with asbestos when he worked as an electrician on premises run by Croydon Corporation.

An inquest into Mr Hills’ death was held at Eastbourne Town Hall on Thursday (September 17).

East Sussex coroner Alan Craze recorded a verdict that Mr Hills’ death was due to industrial disease.

Inquests are open to the public and members of the press who are permitted to report the proceedings in full.
