The Ship Inn, in the Meads area of Eastbourne, shared the news with customers on Facebook on Thursday (October 29).

“We haven’t been instructed to close, but we have made the decision to do so as a cautionary measure. The safety of our customers and staff remains top priority.”

It said since reopening in July, it has followed all Covid guidelines including ‘enhanced cleaning, social distancing and mask-wearing’.

The team at the pub have attempted to let all bookings know, and told customers to ‘stay safe’.

It said, “We aim to reopen as soon as possible.”

This comes in the same week that The Dolphin on South Street temporarily closed due to a positive Covid test.
