Couple who drove from Crawley to Beachy Head for exercise fined by police
A couple who drove from Crawley to Beachy Head for exercise have been fined by police.
The man and woman were given fixed penalty notices on Sunday (February 28) after they travelled more than 40 miles to the coast for a walk.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said, “While exercise is permitted under the government’s coronavirus regulations, it should be done within an area local to a person’s home.”
Over the weekend (February 27-28) Sussex Police issued 258 fines.
Currently anybody over the age of 18 can be fined in England with the cost being £200 for the first offence although this can be lowered to £100 if paid within 14 days.
