Polegate could have 180 new houses on the horizon

Plans for a huge new housing development at Polegate have been submitted.

The first documents have been submitted for development plans on land east of Polegate.

According to the report on Wealden District Council’s website, the development would cover nearly 102,300 sq ft of what is currently woodland and used for agriculture.

The site is one kilometre east of Polegate town centre.

The document says the proposed scheme is for up to 180 houses up to three-storey, footpaths and cycleways, internal roads and parking. It also says there will be public open spaces and play areas.

If planning permission is granted, work would be expected to start in 2023.

Wealden District Council now has until December 23 to respond to the documents in order for the planning application to go any further.
