Julie Cocklin of Darent Close, has applied to Wealden District Council to convert her garage into a dog grooming business.

Ms Cocklin said, “I propose to run a small, one-on-one dog grooming service. I will be the only person involved in the business and therefore will only take one dog into the salon at a time and allow time between appointments so that there is no cross-over.

“This is only ever going to be a small business to be taken on upon my retirement and as such I will not be looking to expand it unreasonably.”

She said her maximum working hours would be 8am-5pm, treating four dogs a day, and a window would be replaced with a door which customers will access through the side gate and path.

Ms Cocklin said there would be no inconvenience for neighbours, with no visible advertising, no impact on the adjoining property, and a ‘clear and obvious parking space for customers’ in front of her garage.

Members of the public can comment on the plans until May 19.
