She said, “I was appalled at the condition of the disabled toilet. The main toilets are closed and all the seats are taped off. I have trouble walking far and need to rest regularly.”

In response to the comment and photos, the centre manager for Langney Shopping Centre Neil Avis, said, “The disabled toilet facilities will be refurbished very soon. The work was planned to take place early last year and what the pictures show is enabling work to remove a redundant water tank and prep work on the walls. Unfortunately, lockdown happened and the toilets were closed.

“You might say that this was the perfect time for refurbishment work but due to no contractors being available at the time the works were put on hold. However, I will instruct contractors to carry out some improvement works as soon as possible.

“The customer toilets in the centre have been locked down and it was our intention the lock the disabled toilets too but we have decided we will allow disabled customers to use them if they really need to.”
