The alarm was raised yesterday (Sunday) when it appeared part of the roof of Home Bargains had been affected by the strong winds and driving rain.

This morning, much of the car park on the new extension side of the car park was cordoned off.

Home Bargains opened at the end of January and is the flagship store in the new £6.5 million extension.

Centre manager Neil Avis said, “The centre suffered minor roof damage caused by the storm and high winds.

“For safety we closed the eastern car park and entrance and sectioned the area off. Contractors are currently on site repairing and making the roof safe which should be complete by midday.

“Once complete Costa and Home Bargains will open.”
