The application site for the Costa Coffee drive-thru is at Hampden Retail Park near the Marshall Roundabout.

According to a design and access statement submitted with a planning application to Eastbourne Borough Council, the coffee shop would be built at the south eastern corner of the car park close to a number of stores including B&Q, Dreams and Halfords.

The documents say the coffee shop entrance would face the car park with the drive-thru lane circulating behind, parallel to Marshall Road.

There would be a pedestrian link created off Marshall Road to connect the coffee shop to the main promenade along the shop fronts.

Head of property, development and compliance for Eastbourne Borough Council Mark Langridge-Kemp said, “These proposals for development of Hampden Retail Park mark the start of the council’s transformation of the site.

“The inclusion of the drive-thru within the retail park will provide a huge benefit to both the local community and existing traders on the site, increasing footfall and adding to the experience of a visit to the park.”
