Chris and Barry’s barber shop in Susans Road has closed its doors this month (July) after first opening back in 1970.

The owners left a written message confirming the closure, which said, “Sorry we have had to shut the shop. We would both like to say a big thanks to all of our customers past and present.

“We have had a great ride. Happy memories. Again thanks, Chris and Barry.”

The reaction online has led to many people post their thanks and memories in tribute to the shop and its owners.

One customer said in a Facebook post, “End of an era. Chris and Barry’s hairdressers gone but never forgotten. Sorting my family’s hair out for 50 years.

“They looked after my late Dad with home visits in his final years. We will never forget that. Many good, good times.”
