The TIC, now known as the Visitor Centre, is within the council’s Welcome Building at the Devonshire Quarter in Carlisle Road and relocated from Cornfield Road where it had been for 30 years.

It officially opened on Monday morning.

The council’s Margaret Bannister said, “We recognise the essential services the TIC provides. In order to continue offering these services the decision was made to create a new Visitor Services team, within the Welcome Building.

“This relocation will allow us to combine the council’s tourism visitor services into one multifunctional team. They will continue to have a wealth of information available for both residents and tourists, while significantly reducing the cost of these services.”

The new Visitor Centre will offer the same services from it’s new location, including ticket sales for the Bandstand, theatres and third party events.
