Charity boost for Eastbourne homeless ahead of tough winter due to Covid

A group of five women from in and around Eastbourne are knitting and sewing items for the homeless.

The women, who produce articles including blankets for people and coats for dogs, chose to change their focus to homeless people and their dogs after they were no longer needed for producing scrubs for NHS staff through the Covid-19 crisis.

Erika Weston, one of the founding members of East Sussex Charity Boost for the Homeless, said every donation helps and they want to increase their numbers.

She said, “Even one scarf is absolutely fine.

“We’d love more people to join us to knit hats, scaress and gloves, or sew things.”

The group need fleece, waterproof material and suitable wool.

They currently have 24 contributors, but Erika said the more they can produce the better.

Anyone who would like to get involved should join the Facebook group titled East Sussex Charity Boost for the Homeless and get in touch.
