Local band back with a vengence

Eastbourne band Con Brio return to the Under Ground Theatre for

After two successful gigs in France, the band will again be demonstrating their genre-hopping, instrument-swapping style that sees them play jazz standards, Irish jigs, and plenty more besides.

Their repertoire includes the likes of Fever and Happy, as well as instrumentals such as Tequila.

But they’re every bit as likely to come up with a samba version of White Christmas to Sittin’ On The Dock of the Bay – via Sweet Georgia Brown and “Roll Over Beethoven.

During the interval, they will be selling their second album Leave Behind Your Brolly - one song is about Eastbourne!

It all makes for an exciting morning – which, on past experience, is sure to pull in the crowds.

Band-leader John Purcell will again be displaying his wide-ranging musical talents on piano, saxophone, and fiddle, alongside Eleanor Drinkall (double and electric bass), Anna Purcell (vocals, piano, ukulele), Callum Mulholland (guitar, piano), and Aiden Purdey (drums). The best advice is: get there early!

Throughout the morning, Fairtrade filter-coffee and tea, plus home-made cakes, will be on sale.

The theatre’s coffee bar will then stay open until 4pm, for viewing of the latest UGT art exhibition.
