Chichester Cathedral turned blue this evening to recognise the contribution made by front-line health workers and the NHS.

In line with the national #ClapForOurCarers, the special event took place at 8pm, with generous support from Chichester Festival Theatre who provided both equipment and professional expertise.

Chichester Cathedral is the Mother Church of the Diocese of Chichester, which almost exactly covers the counties of East and West Sussex and the City of Brighton and Hove, stretching for nearly a hundred miles along the south coast of England. Services take place daily and all are welcome.

The Dean of Chichester, The Very Reverend Stephen Waine, said: “The Cathedral is visible from many miles around, including from Chichester’s own St Richard’s Hospital. We hope this sends a message of support to all of the carers and health care professionals working so hard within these unprecedented times.
