Hassocks will use SCFL Supplementary Cup as springboard for next season

And the SCFL cup competitions committee met on Wednesday to ratify the teams and groups taking part.

All of Hassocks’ matches will be played away from home due to pitch maintenance, and games are scheduled to commence Saturday, April 10.
John said: “I think we’ll use it to prepare for next season. We’ll play these games and we’ll probably train every week up until next season.
“We’ve got so many youngsters and they’re so keen to get going that it will do them good, and it will certainly do me good.
“It’s good to be back. It’s so boring at the moment.

“As you get older you learn to cope and they can’t go to the pub and things like that, so it will get rid of some of that pent-up energy.”
Winners of Hassock’s group will take on the winners of Group 2, one of East Preston, Lancing, Pagham or Steyning Town, in the semis on the week commencing May 3.
And if the Robins go all the way the final, which will be held at neutral venue, will take place the week commencing May 17.

Hide AdSpeaking on his side’s tournament prospects, John added: “I would expect Horley to win it to be honest out of those teams.
“I know Crawley Down quite well and they’re always a decent side.
“Lingfield, I don’t think we’ve played them for a few years. They’re a bit of an unknown to me.
“It all depends on how fit you are. We’ve got a couple friendlies coming up and we’ll start back training next week.
“When we had the last break we didn’t have time to get ready.
“We weren’t really prepared and it’s a bit like that at the moment.”
