A total of 815 schoolchildren aged 7-14 from 94 schools across Sussex competed for sporting glory, joined by more than 150 young leaders from schools and colleges in Sussex who ensured the smooth running of the day.

Montell, who works as a Sporting Champion, delivered some inspiring words during the opening ceremony: “I’m really humbled as an athlete to be here today.
“I remember when I first started out in sport, the excitement and the buzz that I relished in. I realise now that’s where it all started for me, and your journey is no different to mine, it’s just in a different place. The opportunity I’ve been given to see you start your journey is a blessing in itself. Remember, if you don’t win today, you can win tomorrow.”
The School Games is backed by National Lottery funding from Sport England & the Youth Sport Trust and sponsored by Active Sussex Corporate partners: Freedom Leisure and University of Chichester.
