The golf champion, 45, suffered multiple and serious injuries including “open fractures” to his legs in the crash on Tuesday 23 February. The 15-time major champion had to be “extricated from the wreck” by firefighters and paramedics who opened the car’s windshield to get him out. Deputy Carlos Gonzalez said Woods was "not able to stand under his own power" before being removed from the Genesis GV80, which “sustained major damage”. The American golfer was wearing his seatbelt and was "still calm and lucid" when authorities arrived, Gonzalez said. Woods was quickly transported to a local hospital by ambulance to treat his injuries. The vehicle sustained major damage. "The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick 'Tiger' Woods. Mr. Woods was extricated from the wreck by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries." Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, said earlier: "Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support." There was “no obvious sign” that the golf champion was impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of the accident, according to the LA County Sheriff. How is Tiger Woods after surgery?
