Since 2007, more than 1250 student across Sussex universities have studied in the Europe on the scheme – including 58 from the University of Chichester – which offers free tuition and a monthly grant of around £240 to help with living costs, as well as vocational training through apprenticeships.
Around 77 Chichester students were expected to benefit from the programme by 2020, totalling 1580 predicted students across Sussex.

“Young people overwhelmingly voted remain in the EU, it would be wrong to deprive them of this once in a lifetime opportunity to study or train abroad.
“I hope that we can keep this scheme going. We should be opening doors for young people to study abroad and not only learn about their chosen subject, but also about other cultures.
“That is why the Liberal Democrats are calling on the government and EU leaders to confirm that they will be to access the Erasmus scheme whatever happens next.”
