For instance, why on earth does Arun feel it necessary to waste council taxpayers’ money by appointing a firm of private planning consultants at a six-figure fee, when the council has its own area planning department staffed by highly qualified people, quite capable of doing the same job?
Furthermore, I question the wisdom of Arun’s decision to appoint Colliers International, who are not only planning consultants, but are also property developers.

Hide AdLike many of us, I was conned into believing that Arun would make its final decision on the future of the existing centre based on the result of the ballot paper sent out to the local population last year. Obviously, this was the logical and democratic way of dealing with the matter and, as we all know, the result of the ballot was a clear majority in favour of the proposal to retain and improve the centre in Sea Road.
Sadly, however, for some strange reason, Arun appears again to be ignoring the wishes of the majority and seems to be obsessed with wasting time having endless meetings on the subject and getting absolutely nowhere, as usual.
