It is true that poor rail and road links put off employers from setting up businesses in the area. The withdrawal of government grants for impoverished areas does not help.
There are indeed many large and long empty buildings in the town and surrounding areas that could attract business in the process leading to more jobs, increased income for the population and extra tax revenue benefiting both the state and local council services.

If this is done then Hastings and St Leonards will prosper creating new jobs, increasing wages and taxation income to pay for services both for the national and local governments.
Those are the challenges to be met. Let us work with the local council, our local MP and business to achieve that growth.
I hope that the latest annual local job fair to be held this Friday at the White Rock Hotel helps to create decent well paid jobs for those needing work.
