SQUARE YOUTH CAFÉ: There are opportunities and activities for young people in Hailsham between the ages of 12 and 17years to enjoy a variety of fun activities which have been planned for the Friday Night Project in the coming months including kayaking, go-karting, climbing and Segway. There will also be the chance for young people to participate in go-karting, Laser Quest and water-slide at Knockhatch Adventure Park. The Friday Night Project, which is funded by Hailsham Town Council and the Safer Wealden Partnership, works with Hailsham Community College to help create alternative recreational activities for young people on Friday evenings, will also continue to be a feature in young people’s social events calendar this summer. MEMORIAL STONE: A commemorative stone is to be unveiled in Hailsham to honour the memory of Victoria Cross recipient, Company Sergeant Major Nelson Victor Carter. Marking the 100th anniversary of Nelson Carter’s act of gallantry that earned him the prestigious award during the early years of the First World War, a special ceremony will take place at the war memorial in Hailsham High Street at 3pm on Saturday July 2, where the commemorative stone will be unveiled to the public.

Hide AdCALAMITY JANE: Hailsham Old Pavilion Society (HOPS) presents a new sing-a-long version of the 1953 smash hit film, Calamity Jane, at The Pavilion cinema in George Street tomorrow, Saturday. There will be two performances of Calamity Jane starting at 2.15pm and 7.45pm. Tickets cost £7 (£5.50 concessions and children), plus 10 percent discount for HOPS members, and are available from The Pavilion Box Office or website.
