Fire and rescue search for missing dogs near Findon has a happy end
Rachel and Rosie arrived at their front door covered in mud but unhurt after disappearing on a walk near Cissbury Ring last Tuesday.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service helped look for the Parson Jack Russell terriers in rabbit holes around the Long Meadow area today using specialised listening equipment.

Hide AdSpeaking during the search, owner Karen Warren said: “Everyone’s been marvellous. The fact that fire and rescue has come out - I’m just in awe of it. It’s just amazing.
“They said it’s like training, testing the equipment.”
A representative from the RSPCA was on hand to ensure that the holes were not home to badgers before they were investigated by the technical rescue unit (TRU).
TRU member Neil Graham said: “We tried to locate the dogs in the area where the owners last heard them by using our listening equipment down rabbit holes.
“We were unable to hear the dogs but reassured the owners that the dogs will often free themselves and return home of their own accord.
“We are very happy that the dogs returned from their adventure unharmed, if a bit muddy.”
