A FORMER foster carer has spoken of the rewarding nature of the role and is urging those thinking about fostering to give it a go as Foster Care Fortnight comes to an end.

Carole Rishman, 56, of Saxifrage Way, Durrington, has fostered eight children over the years, one of whom, Nigerian-born Ade Adebayo, is still a major part of her family 34 years after he first came into her care.

“It’s very rewarding for a start,” said Carole.

“It gives children who need a home, a home, instead of them having to go into community care. Everybody does it for their own reasons, we loved it.”
