Dancers enjoy open day fundraiser
Sophie’s Studio competition team, SSDC, took part in a number of challenges to raise money for the charity ‘4Louis’ a charity close to Sophie’s heart, which helps to comfort bereft parents, after her best friend lost a baby earlier this year.
One of Sophie’s smaller dancers, Kitty O’Pray, stood on Amy Barry’s shoulders for five minutes, the SSDC competition squad did star jumps for 15 minutes and were challenging themselves to see how many head rolls they could fit it to just ten seconds; to name but a few challenges. Sophie baked and decorated 110 cup cakes all sold and all proceeds going to 4Louis. The dance school made just shy of £200 in total for charity.

Hide AdThe ‘Sophie’s Studio ‘Sparkly Summery Open Day Spectacular’ was a chance for parents, family and friends to come along and watch the hard work that the dancers put in to classes all year round. With students winning silk sashes and pink trophies for hard work, commitment and personality-to name but a few qualities-and one student winning months worth of free lessons with the Sophie’s Studio Scholarship. There was also bubbles, glittery face painting, balloons and pink roses for her SSDC dance captains for their constant and brilliant help and not forgetting to mention the surprise pop-up shop for Ella Dance Wear Collection-bespoke dance wear made by a renowned film and TV costume maker, Ella McEwan. Ella also donated one entire outfit to the value of £80 for one of Sophie’s dancers who had worked particularly hard this past term.
Not charging any entry fee, Sophie wanted to treat all involved in the dance school to a wonderful day of fun for their ongoing commitment and brilliant support to Sophie’s Studio.
Sophie said: “To be honest, it was the least I could do for my wonderful dancers. One of my dancers described the dance school as a little ‘family’ and another described me as ‘a teacher and friend’ - this makes me so happy. Instilling confidence in tiny humans through dance is the best job ever, I consider myself truly lucky.”
