CRIME FILE: Teens attacked, bogus caller and vandalism in Worthing

Four attack teen A TEENAGER was attacked by four men as he walked along a Broadwater street. The assault took place during the evening, near shops along Broadwater Road on Friday, February 14, after a silver Honda Accord car with tinted windows pulled up alongside an 18-year-old man who was walking home. Four men got out of the car and attacked the victim, who was left needing ambulance treatment for a suspected broken nose and other cuts and bruises. Knife-point robbery A BOY had a knife held to his throat while he was robbed in broad daylight in Worthing town centre. The 16-year-old victim was walking with two friends along Montague Street at around 4.30pm on Monday, February 18, when he was approached by a girl and two teenage boys outside Woolworth's. One of the teenage boys pulled out a knife and held it to the victim's throat, taking a mobile phone and a silver cigarette lighter from the boy's pocket. The victim followed the gang as they walked towards McDonald's and challenged them. The knifeman then lunged the blade towards the victim's chest before they made off. The robber is described as white, around 5ft 6ins tall, with brown hair and a grey/white army-style hooded top. The teenage boy with him is described as black, with platted hair, wearing a green jacket and a black, flat cap. Fake gas and electricity workers POLICE are warning the elderly to be on alert after reports of a bogus workman in West Worthing. On Monday, February 18, an Asian man in his 40s called on a number of addresses in Robson Court, Robson Road, claiming to be from gas and electricity companies and asking to gain access. There were no reports of anything being stolen or access being granted but officers are urging people not to allow any unexpected callers inside and to call police with any suspicions. Aluminium theft THIEVES stole almost 8,000 worth of aluminium equipment from an East Worthing business. The burglary took place between noon on Saturday, February 16 and 6am Monday, February 18, at an engineering company in Meadow Road. The thieves used a vehicle to shunt a company van away from the door of a storage shed and broke inside. They then stole aluminium castings and blocks. Tools taken TOOLS worth almost 1,000 were stolen from a van in Worthing. The burglary happened overnight between Saturday, February 16, and Sunday, February 17, when a van parked in Chesswood Road was broken into through a side door. "DeWalt" brand tools were stolen, together with a Tom-Tom satellite navigation device. Cyclist robbed TWO boys are helping police with their enquiries after a young cyclist was robbed. The schoolboy victim was cycling along Terringes Avenue, in Tarring, on Wednesday, February 13, when he was approached by two boys. They demanded money, which the victim refused, before snatching his mobile phone. They then pulled the boy off his bike and put him in a headlock while threatening him and his family. After investigations, police arrested two boys at Durrington Railway Station on Saturday, February 16. Cars vandalised DELICATE thieves stole the wing-mirror glass from two cars without damaging the vehicles in any way. The odd thefts took place near Hill Barn golf course between Friday, February 15 and Sunday, February 17.
