A medical ward at the Conquest Hospital remains shut, five days after patients were diagnosed with norovirus.

Newington Ward was closed to new admissions on Thursday (April 23) after two people displayed symptoms of the highly-contagious bug, which causes vomiting and diarrhoea.

The ward remained closed today (April 28).

A spokesperson for the hospital said Newington would reopen 48 hours after the last person stops exhibiting symptoms of the bug.

No other wards at the Conquest are believed to have been affected.
